Training Subcommittee

Our Charge:
“To evaluate and offer recommendations concerning the area of Training to the Employee Perceptions and Morale Standing Committee. These recommendations will be consistent with DMC's operating requirements, collective bargaining contracts and financial resources.”

Who We Are:
Ross Clinchy (Chair), Steven Greenblatt (Advisor), Paul Alleyne, Michael Burns, Diane DeSouza, Doriel Ford, Stephen Marrone, Rena Mitchell, Barbara Roby, Thomas Farrell.

What We Do:
The Subcommittee has been working on developing a set of recommendations that would ensure that:

  • Comprehensive mandatory training programs are developed and implemented for all levels of the Downstate workforce, addressing management and employee-supervisory relations skills.
  • The training programs employ a variety of learning methods.
  • The training should impart mentoring and communication skills to supervisors and should include regular feedback from staff.
  • The training must also teach supervisors how to communicate performance expectations and engage employees as full partners.
  • Regular follow-up training sessions are to be available to managers and staff.
