The New York State Education Board requires that all entities within the State University system be subject to accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, as are most private and public Institutions.
In part the requirement follows a desire to ensure the SUNY system remains competitive and maintains its reputation for educational excellence and remains highly competitive within the field of higher education.
Accreditation is also required in order for our component Colleges to offer Financial Aid. Loss of accreditation would prevent us from providing financial assistance to students unable to bear all of the financial burden of higher education.
