Standard 1:  MISSION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


CHARGE
Committee 1 will explore the interdependent relationships among the institutional mission, goals and outcome. Specific attention will be placed on the following focus questions:

	How do the Institutional mission, goals, and objectives (to educate and train the next generations of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and biomedical researchers and to advance medical care services for the community), guide the administration, faculty and staff relative to planning, resource allocation, program development and outcome assessment?
	What are the goals and objectives of each College and to what extent do they reflect Institutional goals and objetives?
	How have we addressed our three-part mission to provide excellence in education, research an d patient care over the last decade?
	To what extent do the graduates of SUNY Downstate reflect the mission of the Institution?
	How are the goals and objectives of each of the Colleges approved and publicized to members of the Institution?
	How does each of the Colleges ensure that input is sought from external constituencies in the development and implementation of Institutional goals and objectives?
	What are Downstate Medical Center's goals relative to student learning?
	What collaborative methods are employed to facilitate Institutional improvements and development?
	Do the goals and objectives for each College reflect Institutional support of scholarly and creative endeavors?
