Research interests of the division Both Basic and Clinical Research are available and encouraged. Fellows are expected to participate in at least one research activity during the training period. Abstracts are prepared and submitted for acceptance and presentation to various regional and national scientific programs.

Description of the educational aspects and advantage of the program Act as preceptors to medical residents and medical students. Attend at least one major national conference during training period (sponsorship may be available but is not guaranteed). Nationally and internationally recognized faculty. Fellows presenting at national conference(s) receive a travel grant from the Division.
Application information Applications are accepted from September 1 through December 31 of each year. Interviews are scheduled during February and March. Each applicant is required to have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program in the United States. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program and all prospective candidates are required to participate. Approximately 300 applications are received annually and the Fellowship Interview Committee reviews and selects the top 50 candidates (strong academic, clinical and research background) for interviews. Of the 50 applicants 20 are ranked and the top 5 are selected.

Visas accepted by the GME Office are considered and acceptable.
